42- Mt. Pleasent, Adams Morgan & downtown

This is a very busy and very useful line, especially at night. A relatively short line, it connects Mt. Pleasent and Adams Morgan with Dupont Circle and downtown. Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan are both major night spots, with seemingly uncountable resturants and bars, as well as several major nightclubs; the downtown area has a respectable number of these businesses as well.

Mt. Pleasent is an old streetcar suburb that has since become a major hub for transport within the District. The first crossings over Rock Creek Park, Calvert Road and Park Road, lie in Adams Morgan and Mt. Pleasent. Mt. Plesent also lies along 16th and 14th Sts NW, both major commuter routes. A set of crosstown buses (H routes) pass through Mt. Pleasent; some of the buses also serve Adams Morgan.

While the southbound buses list Metro Center as their destination, the buses go as far as 9th & G St. NW, next to the west entrance to the Gallery Place. Some buses will only go to Farragut Square; this happens mostly during the morning rush hour and the early part of the night.
